By Car

To get to The Sportsman from London

Take the M2 toward Dover. At the end of the M2 (Junction 7), continue on the A299 towards Margate/Whitstable. After 500 yards, take the first exit from the A299, signposted Goodnestone/Staple Street and Faversham. After 100 yards, turn right, following signs to Goodnestone and Graveney. Follow the road through the villages for 3.8 miles. As you approach the sea wall, you will see a row of huts and The Sportsman will be the next left turn.

To get here from Dover or Folkestone direction

Take the A2 towards London then, at the large roundabout (Junction 7 of the M2), take the A299 towards Margate/Whitstable. Then follow the directions above.

To get here from anywhere else

Follow signs to Whitstable. As you enter the town you will descend a steep hill (Borstal Hill). At the bottom, just after the petrol station, turn left on to Joy Lane. Stay on this road for almost 4 miles. You may think you have gone too far but keep going and The Sportsman will appear on your right.

By Train

The Sportsman is in the middle of two stations, Faversham and Whitstable. A taxi would be required from either station and will take between 15 and 20 minutes. Please see below for taxi information.
Direct trains run from London Victoria to Faversham and Whitstable stations. A high-speed service runs from St Pancras International to Faversham where, if required, you can change and catch an onward train to Whitstable.

On Foot

It is possible to walk to us from either Whitstable or Faversham. From Whitstable the route follows the coast and takes between an hour and a quarter and an hour and a half, depending on your pace. The route from Faversham is longer and can take at least two hours to walk.  Both walks are very scenic and form part of the Saxon Shore Way.

Taxis

We recommend that if you are coming by taxi, you book your return car early as Whitstable suffers from a taxi shortage most evenings.
